What is Yin Yoga?
Yin Yoga is a counterpart to active yoga styles such as Ashtanga Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga. With Yin yoga, postures are held for a long time (for 4 to 10 minutes) in complete relaxation. Yin yoga is also called "moving meditation" because you have time to discover what you feel in the yin postures.
Yin Yoga is based on the Chinese meridian system, which is also used in acupuncture. Yin yoga is therefore not only focused on your muscles, but on your joints and connective tissue. With Yin yoga you want to stimulate your energy pathways in the connective tissue, promote blood flow and thereby create more flexibility. Yin yoga focuses on the physical as well as the spiritual.
