First use
Our cushions are filled as full as possible with buckwheat husks, a natural residual product.
If you find this too high or would prefer to sit a little softer, you can easily remove some filling from the inner cover via the zipper - this way you can perfectly adjust the cushion to your ideal sitting height.
The cushion can be used flat in a tailor's position, or on its side in a seiza position .
Smell
The materials cotton, velvet and buckwheat husks give off virtually no odor.
For a pleasant atmosphere, you can drip some essential oil onto the filling of the inner cushion.
Maintenance
The cover is easy to remove for both the round and half-moon cushions and only needs to be washed when absolutely necessary – for example, if stains are visible. The colour may fade slightly if exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time. Make sure the filling stays dry – this will keep your cushion fresh and in good condition.
Cleaning a meditation cushion
- The outer cover is easily removable – no hassle with the filling
- Wash the outer cover inside out in the washing machine, at low temperatures
- Use a mild detergent without bleach
- Let the cover air dry; avoid dryer and direct sunlight
- Ironing is possible at a low temperature
- The inner filling must not get wet – this can lead to mold formation
- Air the inner cushion regularly: unzip it and place it outside in the sun for a while (without the outer cover)
- Check occasionally whether the pillow still provides good support – you can easily top up the filling with dry buckwheat husks (or with a little uncooked rice)
